MEASURE CAREFULLY:

Are you thinking of gearing up your dog with a coat, pack or boots?  We can't stress how important it is to measure your dog carefully before you make your selection.

The important mesurements are: LENGTH - from where the collar sits on your dog's neck to the base of the tail; GIRTH - right around your dog's body at the deepest part of the chest, usually right behind the front legs; and NECK.

Compare these measurements to the sizing charts.  If your dog measures 20" long then he will probably wear an RC coat in Size 20 or a Medium in the technical coats (RUFFWEAR & CANINE EQUIPMENT) but he may go up a size.  Or down...  That's why you have to consider all three measurements.  When in doubt drop us an email with your dog's particulars and we'll help you make a choice!

That's SHANGO, a 2-year old Mastiff/Shepherd cross with his Palisades Pack on the Juan de Fuca Trail.  Adopted from the Victoria SPCA, this big ol' bundle of energy spends many days on the trails with owners Jessica & Bill and they all give enthusiastic thumbs (or paws!) up for the pack.  Says Jessica: " Shango has used his pack on several backpacking trips this year, including up and over several mountains in Strathcona park. It's a real help that he can carry all his own food, water, and bedding for the camping trips because my pack is heavy enough as it is. We had tried other cheaper packs on a couple test walks, but all of them gave Shango sores from rubbing. The Palisades pack seem comfortable, preformes well, and manages to stay on a rambunctios 100 pound dog that sprints everywhere, crashes through bushes, and scrambles up and down every steep bank he can find."
